This Week in Choir
Hello Choir Families,
One more week to go! We had a crazy week with all of the testing, make up testing, and cancelled testing. But the kids were great through it all and we managed to make really good progress. We just have a couple more things to get done before the end of the semester and then we can all relax!
Choir Pictures
The students will be taking their choir yearbook pictures in class on Jan 13th. They will also take their individual button pictures, and “buddy” pics that day. Students should have their shoes and bring their garment bags with hangers. We will add our costumes to their garment bags to store in the classroom until our February show. Parents will be able to order these pictures in digital form if you wish.
Rush Park Tree Lighting
Sound Check will be singing at Rush Park tomorrow at 6:10. This will be the last of our caroling gigs of the season. Come check them out!
Sound Check should arrive at 5:50 wearing your blue choir jacket, black pants, and holiday accessories.
Sound Waves and Sixth Sense solos
We have a couple more solos to audition before we head to break. Please submit via Google Classroom this weekend. Monday in class will be our last time to audition for a comp solo.
Theory Test Wednesday
Wednesday we will have our last choir test. It will be written only. They will be allowed to use their study guide and the test will cover solfege, letter names, rhythm counts, and dictation.
Knott’s Berry Farm Feb. 13
I am hoping to have Knott’s info out to you next week. This is an optional trip and the students will be missing the whole day. Registration and payment will be due by Jan. 16.
Competition Shoes
Comp shoes are due when we return from break and students must have them for pictures. If you have not yet ordered them please do so soon. Students can label them and bring them to class as soon as they have them.
Sixth Sense-White Ked-type shoes- Due Jan 6
Sixth Sense will be wearing white canvas Ked like shoes for their next show. They do not need to be real Keds but should be plain all white canvas. Here is a link to Amazon-you do not need this exact shoe. These shoes should not be worn elsewhere until after the February show. The girls need to write their name on the inside of the show and bring them in a box to keep in the classroom. Shoes can be brought in any time before break and are due the day we come back.
Sound Waves-Character shoes Due Jan. 6
Sound Waves girls will all need a pair of flesh character shoes. 1 or 1.5 inch heel with a strap. No t-strap! I’ve included a link to a version on Amazon for convenience. However, you can get any brand from any dance store you choose. Different brands have different versions of the “flesh” color and some brands make caramel color for darker skin tones. You can find the brand/color/price that best fits your student. If ordering from Amazon, I recommend getting a couple different sizes to see what works best. Most character shoes you will need to go up a half size. OR you can go to a dance store and try some on so you know what size they will need. If you have any questions or will not be able to get the shoes, please let me know right away so we can help you out. Please bring the shoes to class as soon as you have them. We will start breaking them in right away.
Soul Men white Converse high top Due Jan. 6
Soul Men will be wearing a white high top Converse-type shoe for competition. The boys do not need name-brand Converse. Here is a link to an off brand that is affordable. These will be for competition only until the end of March. Please put their name in both shoes and send them into class as soon as they have them so they don’t get lost or dirty. We need to keep these clean so it’s really important that they don’t wear them around.
Studio Singers-Gold glitter tennis shoe. Due Jan. 6 but order now. You need this exact shoe! Exact color. Do not wait to order as they could run out and we don’t want to risk it.
