Hello Choir Families!
Tomorrow is the Seal Beach Art Fair! I’m looking forward to seeing many of you there. We had a great week in choir as usual. Sound Waves had a guest choreographer to help with one of their Broadway numbers. Nick Young was a former student of mine and has been working in the LA area the past 2 years as a professional dancer. Studio Singers won a party for being the first class to have everyone on Google Classroom and everyone had their first assignment turned in. Sixth Sense won a party for being the first class to have all of their permission slips in! Congratulations!
Seal Beach Art Fair tomorrow!
Meet at the Seal Beach Pier at 10:00am by the bathrooms. Wear your new choir shirt and either shorts or jeans. Closed toed shoes are a must. Wear sunscreen and bring a hat and or sunglasses for after performance. The students will be sitting in the sun during the solo performances and are welcome to use umbrellas as well.
Broadway Solos Due next week!
We have lots of opportunities for solos at our upcoming Broadway show and we are really trying to encourage students to audition for those. There are dance features, small groups, and solo songs for all ranges. All materials are on Classroom and are due next week.
Broadway Costume List
Here is the costume list for our Broadway show. It’s a little early yet but I wanted to give you time to find what you needed. Please do not invest much. I have a few pieces students can borrow and much of this can be found at thrift stores or in your closets at home. Let me know if you need help.

Broadway Show/Dance Show dress rehearsal conflict
It has come to our attention that both the choir and dance programs have dress rehearsal on Nov. 4th. Both are very important to the concert and we want to make sure the students can attend both. Choir students who are participating in the dance rehearsal will report to the high school from 2:30-3:30 for a staging rehearsal. They will bring all of their choir costumes with them. Following dance rehearsal you will report to McGaugh for choir rehearsal 3:45-6:00. We will start rehearsal with BFF and elementary students so you have time to get there and change. Please talk to your fellow dancers to arrange for carpooling to McGaugh and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
St. Hedwigs Autumn Festival
The choir will be singing for the St. Hedwigs Autumn Festival on Sept 26. This will be similar to the Art Fair with group performances and solos. This is an optional performance so students will register their attendance. Students who perform will receive extra credit and service hours. Presale tickets are on sale now for students wanting to stay and play before or after we perform. If you plan on coming be sure to take advantage of the preorder as prices will go up. Fix it Tickets
These will start going home next week for students who are having trouble following class expectations. This is a precursor to detention and will not count for demerits unless the form is not returned or behavior continues. Overall the students are doing very well, but some of them need reminders from time to time and this will be a way to hold them accountable before things get out of hand.
Sound Check BFF
Sound Check will be doing a collab with the elementary choirs at our first concert! We did this last year and it was a huge success. They will be performing a song from the SpongeBob musical and we will have an extra rehearsal on Oct. 15th to prepare for that. I’ll be sending information out to the elementary singers, but if you have a student in one of those choirs please mark this on your calendar.
